Getting Started

Process Roadmap

Wealth Care Estate Planning is a comprehensive, highly personalized approach that considers multiple dimensions and often requires coordination with your existing financial and tax professionals.

You can schedule your first contact, a free complimentary phone, video, or in-person consultation with the attorney, either by emailing us, calling us, or, most conveniently, by directly booking an appointment here. In-person visits are available in San Luis Obispo and Cayucos.

After we have concluded the initial consultation and if there is mutual agreement, we will proceed to the next step: You will receive an engagement agreement by email which among other things clearly states the total fee for the services we would provide. After reading it carefully you will be invited to sign it electronically. The fees depend on the service level and are all-inclusive, with no hourly billing. If you want to get a general sense of the level of fees charged by estate planning attorneys, you may find this helpful CA Estate Planning Attorney Costs.

Prior to the Design Meeting we will send you a few detailed questionnaires and forms which we need to receive 5 working days prior to the agreed upon date. If you require more time to gather information or documents, we can always reschedule. The design meeting is very important, lasts about 1 – 2 hours, and should usually be done in person. Dr. Gottlieb can meet with you in your own home or any other mutually agreeable place, including his law offices in Cayucos or San Luis Obispo. The service area for in person meetings includes Kern County, San Luis Obispo County, Monterey County and Santa Barbara County.

During the Design Meeting we will review reasonable alternative approaches that can accomplish your estate planning needs and quote you the associated flat fees. You will then decide how to proceed.

Prior to the Drafting Meeting we may contact your financial and tax advisors, of course with your permission, if needed. We will then draft the documents for your estate plan and send them to you in advance of the Drafting Meeting. This gives you a chance to review them if you like, but the detailed point-by-point review will occur during the Drafting Meeting. We will discuss any revisions you would like to make and after the meeting prepare the revised documents. This meeting does not necessarily have to be in person and can be done by video conference, if desired.

The Signing Meeting may require the presence of witnesses and a notary public. However, this does not mean that you need to come to the Cayucos or San Luis Obispo office as we can arrange notary services at many locations, even in your home.
